Apartment junk removal means a crew comes into your unit, carries out the furniture, mattresses, appliances, and boxes you are leaving behind, and takes them away in one trip. You do not carry anything down to the curb, and you do not need a truck. Most single apartment jobs are done in under an hour once the crew is on site.
The reason apartments are their own kind of job is access. Stairs, elevators, narrow hallways, assigned parking, and a leasing office with rules about all of it. All of that is workable, and most of it is worth knowing before you pick a date.
What we haul out of an apartment
Everything that came in through the door can go back out through it. The common list:
- Furniture. Sofas and sectionals, mattresses and box springs, bed frames, dressers, desks, dining sets, bookcases, patio furniture off the balcony.
- Mattresses, including the ones donation centers turn away, which is most of them. The options are laid out on mattress disposal in DFW.
- Appliances. Washers, dryers, mini fridges, microwaves, and window units.
- Electronics. Televisions, monitors, computers, printers, and the cable boxes nobody returned.
- Boxes, bags, and closet contents, including everything that got left in the second bedroom.
- Exercise equipment, which is the single hardest thing to get down a staircase and the single most common thing left behind.
- Balcony and patio leftovers, grills, planters, storage bins, and dead plants.
What nobody can take is short. Paint, solvents, motor oil, gasoline, propane tanks from the balcony grill, pool chemicals, and anything with asbestos in it are household hazardous waste. Why the complex dumpster is not the answer
Almost everyone tries this first, so it is worth saying plainly. Apartment dumpsters are sized for household trash, and most leases and most complexes prohibit putting furniture, mattresses, appliances, or electronics in them or beside them.
Three things usually happen when a sofa goes next to the dumpster. The complex charges the resident for removal, the charge comes out of the deposit, and the item sits there in the meantime looking like it is somebody's fault. On a move out that is a bad trade.
Electronics are their own category. Televisions and monitors are not landfill items in most places and are handled through dedicated recycling streams. The EPA's guidance on electronics donation and recycling covers why, and it is one of the reasons we sort a load rather than tipping the whole thing.
Tell us the floor and the access before we quote. Third floor walk up with a sectional is a different job from a ground floor unit with a loading zone. We would rather know up front and give you a number that holds than surprise either of us on the day.
How stairs, elevators, and parking change the job
We do not charge by the hour, so a staircase does not run a clock against you. It does change how we plan the visit.
Stairs. Anything above the second floor with large furniture usually means the crew brings more hands. Sectionals and mattresses come apart or come down the way they went up. Tell us the floor when you call.
Elevators. Plenty of complexes require a reserved service elevator and a padded car for moves. That is a leasing office booking, not something we can arrange for you, and it usually needs a day or two of notice. Ask them before you pick a date with us.
Parking and loading. Our trailer needs a place to sit near the building. Some complexes have a loading zone, some want the truck in a specific lot, some restrict hours. A two minute call to the office saves an hour on the day.
Gates and access codes. Give us the code or meet us at the gate. It is the most common reason a crew ends up sitting outside a complex.
How the visit runs and how you get a number
You tell us what is left. Photos from your phone are enough for most apartment jobs. A single sofa or one mattress is a normal call for us and gets a number the same way a full unit does.
We give you a number before anything is lifted. The crew looks at what is actually there and quotes it firm, with disposal inside the number and no hourly clock running. You approve it or you do not. The quote is the bill.
You point, we carry, we sweep. Nothing goes to the curb ahead of us. The crew goes into the unit, down the stairs, and out. The spot gets swept before we leave, which matters more than usual when a walkthrough inspection is coming.
The load gets sorted. Usable furniture and appliances go to local donation partners, metal and cardboard go to recyclers, and the aim on every load is keeping more than half of it out of the landfill. Timing around a move out date
The move out clock is the whole reason most of these calls happen, so plan it slightly early rather than exactly on time.
We run pickups seven days a week. Call before noon and same afternoon is typical across Plano, Allen, Frisco, McKinney, Richardson, Little Elm, Prosper, The Colony, Wylie, and Fairview. After noon, the next morning's first slot is the normal worst case. We say typical, not guaranteed, because complex access rules and job size are real variables. Apartment work is the same wherever it is. We get an old couch out in McKinney and carry a sofa down a stairwell in Little Elm. If it is a whole room rather than one piece, that is a bedroom clear-out in Prosper.
If your lease ends on a Saturday, book for Thursday or Friday. That leaves room for an elevator reservation, a gate problem, or the second load nobody expected.

Frequently asked questions
Will you take just one mattress or one sofa?
Yes. Single item pickups from apartments are a normal part of the week, and they get a quote the same way a full unit does.
Do I need to be home?
Usually yes, so someone can let the crew into the unit and approve the quote. If the leasing office will grant access with your written authorization, that works too. Confirm it with them first.
Can you come the same day I call?
Often. Call before noon and same afternoon is typical across the northern suburbs. We do not promise same day, because promising it would mean breaking it.
What about the third floor with no elevator?
That is a normal job. Tell us the floor when you call so the right number of hands shows up. Stairs do not put you on a clock, since we do not charge by the hour.
Can I put the old couch by the dumpster instead?
Most complexes prohibit it and bill the resident for removal, usually out of the deposit. Check your lease before you try it.
